Since 2.2 installed, i am no longer able to use my beloved Hello IM! application for AIM. Are there any other free instant messaging applications that will allow me to stay signed on even if i go to a different application?
thanks for any suggestions and help.

Personally, I went from Meebo to eBuddy, with a very short stop at Fring in-between. I prefer eBuddy over them all, but Meebo's definitely #2.

i'll keep that in mind if i decide not to use meebo anymore

on a side note, do Instant messenger apps drain more battery because they're constantly refreshing buddy lists?
i check battery usage and my old IM program never used more than 10% of the battery and that would be when i had a long conversation
