Ok, most frequent members on here know about about my pessimism on this phone. I can deal with most of the wierd bugs, but most of all, cannot deal with the lag. Constantly I would only have about 10MBs free out the whopping 1GB we were given for RAM.

A lot of people suggested the phone was busted, or download this app, or this or that. Finally, I took the time to look it up, phones with unremovable bloatware and especially Droids have this problem. Now I continually have about a 1/3 of a GB free at all times!

Finally, after reading more about V.4 of Android and its lag issues, the only real deal down to brass tacks answer is to do the following (Wiping the cache partition):

    1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL UP + VOL DOWN KEY together + POWER KEY .

    2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS

    3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to SELECT

Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.

    4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)

    5. Press and hold the VOL DOWN key, then tap and release the VOL UP key.

Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 5, try a force reboot by pressing the power Key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.

    6. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)

    7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to SELECT this option.

    8. The device will then perform the partition wipe

    9. Once the Formatting is complete, press the POWER key to confirm a REBOOT

    11. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence .

SO, to all those having lag issues, forget about downloading some 3rd party spy and ad ware riddled garbage app, and just do the above. TRUST me. It works.

Convinced this still the only way for this lagtastic phone to run somewhat as smooth as leg amputee. Its been a week and half and the phone started running like a quadriplegic with the brains of someone with a sub IQ of 50 until I did the cache wipe again. Got it down to a pat now

The cache wipe does work, but it doesn't last long. I have to do it at least once a week. I'm highly disappointed with this phone.

I know. I do it almost once a week. This needs to be fixed asap. Can't believe I signed another two year agreement for this heap. I feel bad even selling it to anyone to be honest.

The one and ONLY saving have it has is the battery life. That's pretty much it.

Thank you to Jimmythegent for finding out how to clear out the cache. I tried this tonight on my Droid 3 and hope it helps. I also have installed Clean Master (free version) which warns you when the memory used is over 90% and now has a 1-Step Memory Boost that seems to help. It's also good to run it after anything that's memory-intensive like the GPS or taking photos/video.

Hey glad to help! This might be a weekly thing, but its better than tossing it out the window. As for the Clean Master, I have that too, it does help but doesnt seem to "match up" with amount of memory it so calls "clears".

But the cache wipe will always do the trick, it sucks having to go through this process on a "smart phone", but oh well, lesson learned!

This is how the RAM should always look like! Once a week cache wipe. Someone should make an app for that. Nice and quick instead of this ridiculous way we have to now.

Have you tried Clean Masters Auto Clean? You have to go into Settings and you may want to uncheck some things, but it continuously wipes the cache and helps a lot with the lag. Hope this helps.

Maybe that's why my ROM is so fast. Has a cache cleaner baked in that runs every day at 5am.

No wonder. But doesnt rooting void you warranty even with that Assurion that replaced your phone?

Oh, and its Lodi, NJ, as in the homeland of The Sopranos, just work here, I dont live here, thank god.

Yes, Rooting and Unlocking the Bootloader do void your warranty, even Assurion's. Assurion is a lot more forgiving of that, though. If need be I could set it back to near stock, hide the bootloader unlocked warning and they would replace it. I'm guessing they somehow still make a profit selling us a refub'ed phone for our $100 deducitble.

I wish this wasnt so. I really do, I dont understand why Android did away with all these cool features. Apple I understand, but Android? Not cool, Im pretty much stuck with a lagtastic phone because I actually fear rooting it. Its my damn phone, if I dont want a useless VZW app on there, I should have the right to take it off without worrying.

Maybe one day soon, someone will come out with a new OS that just lets the user do whatever the hell they want to it provided its in the realm of not overclocking the CPU to the point of certain failure.

But it would be nice to have a setting were the cache is wiped clean at a certain time or anything easier than friggin the process thats out now....
