I'm desperate. I listen to loads of FM radio and love the RDS (Radio Data System , displays; station name, artist & song). I would love to have a full REAL (not internet radio) Radio on the Droid.

I KNOW the European Droid (Milestone) has FM radio and the chipset to receive it. I know the US version has the chipset too. So people have been trying to port the app over. But have had no luck. So it seemed all was lost TILL, the Droid X came out and someone posted the OS dump. Showing the FM Radio.apk and FM Radio Service.apk listed. I tried to install both files to my rooted Droid. I got the FM Radio.apk to install and even reconize my phone's status, i.e. Airplane mode. But said I needed headphone plugged in even though they were plugged in. So I'm sure the FM Radio Service.apk is NEEDED as (by what I've read). It's a driver. But since the X and Droid 1 are 2 different phones then some modding is needed.

What I'm wondering is ANYONE working on the Fm Radio app anymore? If so is there any delovment to getting to work?

    Thanks

Nobody has been able to get the FM to work on the Droid.

If you need it that bad get an X.

Just bought the Droid. Can't afford nor can I upgrade to the X yet. Besides, I like the physical keyboard on the Droid.

But I ultimate hope is some people are working on porting the X dump FM radio to work on the Droid. That is why I posted this thread to see who was doing what and to what level have they gotten to getting anything to work.

There are apps like Radiotime that have access to most major radio stations.

I live in a VERY small town. The station doesn't even broadcast online.

Ones that do encrypt the stream link.

There is a forum on here, that talked about this. the had a working app, but it looks like that Motorola did not hook up the FM radio antenna to the headphone jack.

No problem. I live 75 miles from Nashville. I can listen to 95% of the stations I want using online radio. But nothing local.

I have a VERY cheap, Motorola Tracfone that has a FM Radio W/ RDS. I don't get why a phone that cost $50 HAS a WORKING FM Radio and the Droid doesn't!

The Droid is a GREAT phone don't get me wrong. but the Droid Doesn't do FM Radio. So it seems. Very sad! :(

I totally agree. I love my Droid, but where I work my data is spotty (yes I have dialed *228 option 2 several times) and it made a little difference. I was hoping the Droid would but was mistaken. Unable to get the DX or the DInc.
