This is available in the Android Market. Costs .99 cents. I installed it and tested it ... works great. It uses the camera light and it is a very bright flashlight. Last night I was able use it to tell my Ben Franklins from my George Washingtons in a darkly lit bar.

that is why. The app can't override that. Try turning that off, then trying the app again and see if it dims the screen.

I tried turning it off and it just stays the same, doesn't get brighter or dimmer. I don't care really just glad we have a flashlight app.

I need to ask a very sophomoric question. I have d/l the app (d/l successful in Droid), but I can't seem to find it, am I missing something here?

    Peace and blessings,

Well if you downloaded an app, it will be in your app list. if you downloaded the widget one, it won't be there.

To use a widget, you click and hold an empty spot on your home page, and a menu pops up, pick widgets, and you see a list of widgets.

bought this torch lite widget thing just to try out the market - works exactly as advertised - 1x1 widget that you press to turn the leds on and off. If the brightesss was set manually - it doesn't change it. If auto-brightness is enabled it makes it go full brightness (i think that's a bug as it should make it become dim)... hoping updates are free :)

There is no comparison between the Torchlight and Flashlight (both similar in that they make your screen stay on with a background light) and the LED Flash. The LED Flash uses your camera flash LED to make a steady, very, very bright light which comes out on the camera side... looks like the light from a real flashlight. The others light up the screen. Nice if you just need to have a bit of light to see a menu... but, nothing like the LED Flash, which will light up a room.

Guys, try the new CameraLED app. (made specifically for Droid)

It's the same as the LED flashlight but with more options like strobe and tap for on. It also is a widget.

The on buttons are also in red, which are easier on the eyes than white.

CameraLED in a search in the Market apparently produces no results.
