Ok I was able to find a workaroud for that issue. I tried the install on an XP machine and it worked. Now I'm having the problem with the adb commands. I have a screenshot attached.

I keep getting an error that the flashing failed. Anyone have an idea?

What I've done so far is put my phone back to stock via RSD and the file "VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03.sbf". Now I'm running the official OTA 2.1, totally stock.

Here's a screeny of RSD failing:

Try this to verify if its working right type:

    adb usb, hit enter

    adb devices, hit enter

    adb shell, hit enter

If u get errors with any one of those or it just freeze/hangs, somethings wrong. If u type

    adb shell

and it works, ( u will see a # sign if it works) type exit to start over and try to push the 2 files. If u try to type exit and it hangs/freezes, somethings wrong.

Spud, what does the rest of that error message say? I never had problems using RSD, so I'm not familiar with the errors.

I have been following different threads and trying to get SPRecovery flashed to my Droid. I have tried for 4 hours and everything I try fails to flash. I have a Moto Droid and I am using Vista. I have RSD Lite and the SPRecovery sbf. I tried using math3w's approach but apparently that will not work on my Droid. I tried following christim's thread and that doesn't work. I have tried to make sure I have administrator privileges and I don't know what else to try. I have been searching threads and I haven't found anything that is helping me. How do I get SPRecovery flashed or just get my Droid rooted?

    What's the error?

    What's the error?

    What's the error?

Well DID you have administrator privileges or did you not? "There is no try, there is only do" -- Yoda.

    Let's see what we know.
    You use Vista.
    It didn't work.

Well that's normal for Microsoft products.

Next time please follow one of the many step-by-step procedures that include driver installation, administrator privileges, sometimes safe mode, etc. AND DOCUMENT what ERRORS you receive.

    Best of luck,

    E

OK, the first answer is failed to flash, that is what the error was, failed to flash.

    When I use math3w's instructions I get E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

When I am using RSD Lite in Vista, it does not tell me if I have admin privileges so I am unsure. I believe I have admin privileges because I own the system but it is not clear if I do or not. Maybe you know how to tell.

Ok, I have a little more info.

I have admin privileges and I am still unable to flash SPRecovery using RSD Lite. I get the message:

Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values for INI file (Ox7029), phone connected.

I am pretty frustrated at this point so excuse my lapses.

Quick question guys... I've done my phone the "original" way with this method (I posted the guide back on page one). I've noticed this now though: ROM ESE81 Completely Stock With Proper Root, SU, & Baseband

A friend of mine is about get the Droid, so I'm going to root it for her. Question is, is a wipe required for the above ROM? If so, I'll just do the "complicated" procedure again, like I did for mine. Not a big deal for me, I've already done it and my desktop is all set up with the tools and files anyway. But if no wipe is needed, the above would be a nice shortcut.

It's an SBF. ALL will be wiped. If you'd rather do the long way, have a big time.

OK cool then. I'd rather just do the manual ADB pushes and put one of Chevy's kernels in, just like mine. Then she won't have to reinstall whatever she has already set up by then. Not a big deal. Thanks.

    Hey,

I tried to do this on my phone. I downloaded the SBF file and did everything else, but when I am in RSD Lite I'm getting Flash Failed Platform is defined CDMA_TYPE-OMAP_CHIPSET. I have no idea what is going on. Any Ideas?

Is this the best way to get a completely clean unrooted 2.1?
