Facebook app showing location

Suddenly facebook is showing the location I post from. I tried clearing facebook data and turning off gps and clearing my location in the browser but that didn't help. Any idea how to stop this?

Go to your location settings and see if you are allowing apps to use wifi or mobile networks for location.

I have those boxes checked. Don't I need them checked for navigation?

No. As long as you enable GPS satellites. You don't need all of them checked.
