yea - those of us looking to root the droid have been speculating for the past couple days that it is a diagnostic console that Verizon can use to see what's going on with the phone.

we also suspect that it might be the key to getting access to the root console. but i haven't heard anything on test results yet.

So, if it is some kind of diagnostic thing, do we still think that it is an rf connection at all? It seems very weird that diagnostic commands could be done over RF...

color me bummed if it turns out to be just a diagnostic port (even if it means getting root), I was looking forward to my external antenna...

If somebody figures out how to connect an external antenna, let me know.
I spend a lot of time in the boonies and need all the help I can get.

One way or another, I'll need some way of boosting the signal. Hopefully, there is a external jack.
