Extended battery cover number

I purchased an extended battery with a different number than my stock battery has, which is bfx5. I just assumed that since it was a different battery it had a different number but it didn't work with my phone. So I was wondering if there is an extended battery out there for me because I can't find one with bfx5 on it.

The stock extended battery is BF6X. You should make sure when you buy it that it comes with a cover as well, as the stock battery cover just barely doesn't fit - the tabs are strained and you'll find that one side or the other will not be fully closed. Amazon sells the battery, Motorola sells it, Verizon sells it.

Ok thank you. But I was wondering about the extended battery itself not the cover. I don't know how that got in the title. I tried one and it didn't work. What number do I need for it to work?

Most places that sell the extended battery sell it with a cover, but I have seen it a few times without the cover. If you find it without the cover (or need to buy a new cover because the old one breaks), there's a Google search for the part:

yes but its not recommended due to its very tight fit and when battery gets hot....
