We have some pretty thrilling news to share with you guys as a follow-up to the LG Optimus G Pro that had its official launch yesterday. Some new info has come to light with a bit more detail. This new report suggests two things that we haven't heard previously. One is that the phone will come to U.S. shores in the second quarter of this year, although that is only a little more specific than what we had before.

The other is that the device will feature a removable battery! We haven't been able to confirm this but if it turns out to be true, then this new device from LG will come pretty close to meeting many of the features that smartphone lovers have been craving. Let's do a recap:
    • A large 5.5-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 pixel AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 pixels per inch = Check! (although not everyone is enamored by the larger devices)
    • A quad-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor = Check!
    • 2 GB of RAM = Check!
    • Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean = Check! (although Android 4.2.2 would be even better! One other thing to note here is that although LG doesn't use vanilla Android on their device, of all the carrier's their's is the closest and doesn't change much from Pure Android.)
    • A large removable 3,140 mAh battery, which is compatible with wireless charging = Check!
    • A 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash = Check!
    • LTE = Check!
As you can see this looks like a dream come true for mobile smartphone fans. It even has some other sweet features like 32 GB of storage and Dual Recording functionality that "allows users to capture video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously for a unique picture-in-picture experience." It also includes a Virtual Reality Panorama camera feature that "allows shots of entire horizontal and vertical environments for a full 360 [degree] view."

In all fairness, the only complaint we could make isn't related to this device specifically, but is that LG the company is usually pretty slow at updating their devices to the newest versions of Android. If they can turn that part of their business around, then LG could easily become a very hot choice in Android. What do you guys think?

Update: Here's a video that LG just launched to tease their Optimus G Pro before the final unveiling at MWC.

    Thanks for the tip, grenefroggie!

That's what I'm wondering. Verizon didn't get the original Optimus G. I wonder if they'll get this one.

It is a good overall Smartphone; wish they had more preloaded games and features. Looking for news on its availibility and price in the capital. There isn't much hype and awareness about it may be because of lack of advertising. For that end they have also started a facebook contest to give discounts and free DancingNexus Optimus G at https://www.facebook.com/LGEMalaysia/app_136949709807879
