The Passion should be a nice addition to Big Red's Droid lineup. Since it's pretty close to the N1 in all aspects. I think i'll wait to upgrade my 3rd line untill it's release

No physical keyboard... Definitely would like 2.1, though!

After seeing the quick overview it should set the minds at ease of the folks that worried it would be a Droid killer, nothing special except live wallpaper if that turns you on, and we get all that stuff anyways down the road. Little faster with map load but that could be the OS.
    Love my Droid:motdroidvert:

just watched the video... pretty funny...

"the Nexus is a little faster than the Droid... basically the same but a little faster when using the browser..."

paraphrased, but kindof deflating some of the nexus one's hype over the Moto Droid

The pictures of the supposed "HTC Passion" look exactly like the Nexus One. So I'm pretty sure this is the "passion" we're looking at, and I doubt it will be coming to Verizon anytime soon.

That's what I was assuming as well. When this phone was just a rumor, it was known by many names, including the Passion. It just turned out to be the Nexus One instead.

Seems "ok". Just re-affirms what I already knew, I made the right choice.

I feel much better now about my choice - I think it's one of the more ugly phone's I've seen. I love the all black industrial design the droid has.

They said it's a tad thinner than the IPhone which means it's just a tad thinner than the Droid also.

With no keyboard it should be way thinner which confuses me. A week ago I would say the lack of a keyboard kills it for me but now that I use swype I prefer it over the keyboard.

As far as speed difference.... load 2.1 on the Droid and let's see the real difference.

I like the 5 screens and the dots at the bottom, I like the app navigation - love the live wallpaper.

Other than that what's the difference? Oh we get to be on Verizon and they have to be on T-Mobile. And have an ugly phone...

What gets me is I tried to QR Scan the thingy on the back of my buddy's phone and it didn't resolve to anything... Maybe isn't active until it's available in retail?

Those live wallpapers are pretty cool, but not a strong selling point to me. It seems just like my Droidonly on a bad network. I believe tmob customers will be happy with it.

I forwarded the link from Engadget to a friend who has a G1 on T-M. Reaffirmed is the fact I didn't make a mistake getting the Moto Droid. Below are my comments to him after I saw the video:

I really am not too excited about this Google phone. To be honest, it is not much if any faster than my Moto Droid, and in the video, you'll see it has a force close when he's doing the demo on the live wallpapers. I also found it interesting that he was doing the demo using wifi so that obviously would make his Google search go faster. And, when he was showing the Google Maps, there was some delay in bringing up the map when he was scrolling through it. Seriously, my Droid is about as fast as it is.

I am sure those running 2.1 on the Droid now can confirm that the Nexus is not really that much faster than the Droid.

Hero scored 26.4 fps on NeoCore while the Nexus scored 26.7

    Here's the benchmark video
