Is there any way to enable ICS (internet connection sharing) on a rooted droid? or any way to use USB tethering without PDAnet? I can't find any information on that at all.

I did not want to use wifi tether. I'm not comfortable with its methods.

I don't mind using a cable and something a bit more robust. Like just checking a box, and plugging in a cable.

Then I misunderstood your post, you said you wanted to enable "(internet connection sharing) on a rooted droid" I took this as you are wanting to enable sharing your internet connection from your droid... If you are just looking to tether you will have to use PDAnet, until VZW supports tethering for Android.

Works for me on 2.1.0.0.42 But it's un reliable and you have to have the client on your PC.

I have successfully tethered my Droid without root using azilink and openvpn.. will tether to linux, win, and mac..

Of course if you want to root, and install a custom kernel, then you can run wifi-tether.. or you can just wait for a custom ROM. I'm sure it won't take the dev community long to start making some good ones.

I know this thread is stale...
I have Azilink tethered via USB and can:
    surf from the connected PC
stream video and music to my Wii
ping from a wireless PC all the way to 192.168.56.2 not 56.1

The PC nor the Wii can surf.

Easy tether used to be able to.

    Any ides?
