copy Dock.odex and Settings.apk to your sdcard
    then with a terminal emulator

    su
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
busybox cp /system/app/Dock.odex /system/app/Dock.obak **To Backup**
busybox cp /system/app/Settings.odex /system/app/Settings.obak **To Backup**
    busybox cp /sdcard/Dock.odex /system/app/Dock.odex
    busybox cp /sdcard/Settings.odex /system/app/Settings.odex
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot

That is for the Minimum Brightness hack.
In lines 3 and 4, do I need to type in the code "**To Backup**" or is that unnecessary?
    Im a bit confused, thanks

    Don't type the ** stuff **
He's just explaining that that line of code is backing up the old files.

You've installed busybox on your own (or loaded a rom with it preinstalled), right?
What error message are you getting exactly?
Also, remember that everything is case-sensative (ie, dock.odex is different from Dock.odex)

    Yes, busybox installed w/ BBv1.0.
Let me check the error message again...

I typed everything to the T.

    k. I'm using BB 0.7.6. (not sure how different the two are.) Try this:

    Code:
    adb shell
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    mv /system/app/Dock.odex /system/app/Dock.odex.bak
    mv /system/app/Settings.odex /system/app/Settings.odex.bak
    mv /sdcard/Dock.odex /system/app/Dock.odex
    mv /sdcard/Settings.odex /system/app/Settings.odex
    reboot

    You know what... do this:
    Code:
    ls /system/app/Dock.*
and see what shows up. I'm only seeing a Dock.apk.

er, you can forget the "adb shell" then, but everything else will be the same regardless of terminal emulator vs adb.
