Is there a way to set these 2 alerts to different ring tones?

Thanks

check in the settings for both of those apps. they should each have a place to assign a ringtone.

I dont see it, I see a "Notifications" tab to select a sound, under "General" and "Incoming Calls"

Nothing that differentiates between email and text

I am using GMail, and I guess I am using the regular messaging system? I just downloaded GO SMS though.

i know both of those apps have options for custom tones

in gmail open the app then press the enu button then choose more and then choose settings. then if you scroll down there is an option for select ringtone.

in go sms the process should be fairly similar

open up the stock messaging app and go in to settings and uncheck the notifications option.
