SO today i decided to try to change the colors of the Tweetdeck app to match the rest of the colors on my phone. I was able to change them but when I try to put the .apk back into the data/app folder, it wont let me install it. I even changed the permissions to match the rest of the files in the folder but still no luck. any ideas? thanks

I don't know how to do it, but it has to be "signed" in order for it to go there. With my D1 if I wanted to take an app that resided in the /data/app folder, I'd do as you have but before pushing it to the phone, I'd uninstall the original, then place the modded one in the /system/app folder, set the permissions, and reboot (though now I just put it in an update zip and install like a ROM).

Try it. See if that works. Don't forget to create a backup first ;)

It needs to be resigned to be instalable to data/app or pushed to system app with ADB, terminal, or via an update.zip

EDIT: I was able to sign the apk and get it to install. Im also able to log in and let it sync my accounts but then after that it FCs all the time. I checked the permissions and everything. Any idea why it keeps FCing? Did i forget to do something?

I sort of gave up on this, but now that school is over for the holidays, I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can help point me in the righ direction as far as resigning an .apk file after editing the images in it. I am trying to change the colors of TweetDeck to match the rest of my phone. I've tried a bunch of different methods to resign the .apk and they seem to work because it allows me to install it on my phone. However, after signing in to my accounts, it force closes every single time I try to open the app, so my first guess is it wasnt signed correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go to xda developers website and download apk manager. It will do everything you need. It has a slight learning curve but once you get used to it, its great!

I tried to change the color of the icon, and there were some images that were originally gray that I wanted to change to black. I also wanted to change the color for the facebook bars, which are .9.pngs. I know that if you edit these there is a whole other process you have to go through...i've been reading about a lot of stuff regarding editing these files. but for now, I was just tryin to change a few things to see if I could get it to work then go from there
