SquareTrade.com will let you get warranty's for new & used items, but they must meet certain criteria:

SquareTrade Care Plans are available on New electronics and appliances purchased at any retailer (online or otherwise) and Used/Refurbished items either purchased on eBay or from authorized dealers.​

Exactly what the rep said to.me yesterday on the phone.

They said "ur assurion is carrying over"

But that's if it gets lost stolen broken etc and requires a deductible.

I have gone into Verizon and also had reps send me cpo replacement at no charge since something was acting weird.

But this time I bought from third party ...I wonder if they will treat me the same ...

Any thoughts on that?

Would I have to call moto to see if manufacturing warranty is still at play?

When I was with sprint I bought a galaxy s2 off someone and had to get it replaced through insurance. I had to pay $100 deductible which I thought was normal for smartphone insurance?

IF it's on the plan and you don't let insurance lapse it will be covered. Usually it carries over.
I have had to claim multiple eBay and third party phones, no issues.
If you have/had insurance when you transfer the new equipment to the line you should not have a problem.
If you never had it and try to later it's a pain.
