been using the droid for a week or so and like it so far.

one big pain is when on the tel or listening to music the screen
goes to sleep and the only way to wake is to press the
power button.

any way to wake it up under these two conditions with
just a screen tap - i.e. w/o having to press the power button.

thanks.

I found an application called Shaker that seems to be working OK. You can set it up to wake up the screen or answer a call and a couple other things that I did not find useful.

You tell it what direction you want to shake the phone to perform the action and how hard you have to shake.

Sorry I don't have a direct link but should be easy to search for.

Just went into the Market and while there are several shakers, none are the one that you are talking about. C'mon, give us another clue...:)

I think it's the one made by "wise apps development." They have a Shaker Lite (free) and a Shaker (paid)....both are in Beta.

Just installed this myself. It is my new favourite app. No more button and swipe just shake and slide LOL. Beat me to the post but who cares.

Once you have set the profile wait for the screen to go black then shake it t the left with a little jerk. I have set to flick it back with quite a high force needed so as to prevent accidental switch on.

Hi everest. I am the developer for the Shaker app. Would you mind letting me know a bit about your experience with it? I'll do my best to fix any bugs you might be encountering. Thanks!

Tried it...

Too much force required to turn screen on, even at the #1 softest setting. Has potential, but the force needs to be toned down by a factor of 10 at least. Uninstalled it. Will try it again if the dev upgrades it. Droid X. Latest update.

search the Market for an app called "awake stay". You can set it to wake up the phone by pressing the camera button as well as the power button. It won't require sliding the lock screen.
