    Hey all, I've been working my free time away for a while now, trying to build my first theme (SteelBeast) you can see some screen shots on this thread...
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-themes/46576-request-industrial-metal-theme-10.html

    Its come a long way in the past week, and I'm afraid pete will have the new froyo buglessbeast out before I finish this (it was started on bb v1.0). Anyhow, I want to change the color of the clock in the notification bar to match the gray through the rest of the theme. Problem is I know nothing about coding, I have jdk, eclipse, and android sdk on my pc, but they just sit there. Tried to do the little hello world tutorial in eclipse and that confused me pretty good.

    I found this thread...
    [Guide] Change notification/clock/pull down text colors - Android Forums

    It says something about smali that I need...Its all pretty confusing to me and I can't help but think there is an easier way. Droidforums.net has been a great help to me in the past, so I hope I can get that help again

    Ultimate Android Theming Guide - jairomeo

    Here is two that helped me. The first one is the most easy to read explanation of what exact commands to type for smali/baksmali. The Ultimate Android Theming Guide will show you what exactly to edit and what it does. You will need to look up color codes, google is your friend for that though.

    colorchangev3.jar is a lot easier then editing the smali code. Look at my sig if you need some info on this.

    Does spare parts only work on Cyanogen? I can't imagine an easier way.

    Only the spart parts in Cyanogen will do that. As it was built in by the developer.

    im also learning to theme (well mostly port since i am not too great at photoshop), just wondering will all of these methods, especially colorchangev3.jar, work for the new froyo releases?so i guess the important question is has the framework changed drastically, and if so, does this simply rewrite the framework u select or create a new file based on a template (like ese81 or whatever). mayb i'm overthinking it, but thanks for any clarication.
    related to this, i know people were having trouble with something to do with smali and baksmali on froyo, so would that be affected with any of these methods?

    I used colorchangev3.jar to change the color for a theme I am making on Froyo. So I can say it works just fine.

    @CorCor67
    Don't unzip the colorchangev3.jar.zip file. You just remove the .zip off the end of the file by deleting it.
