As a university student, I’ve often found myself needing to prop up my phone to go through slide-shows or watch lectures on YouTube. Kickstand cases are undoubtedly useful but they’re often bulky and just end up making your phone look ugly. Carrying a dock or stand with you to every class can also be really cumbersome. Besides, most smartphone stands are pretty expensive (as a student, finding cash is rarer than finding 3 shiny Pokémon in a row).
And students are notoriously known for travelling light; the only things I carry with me for university are a pen and a stack of papers held together with a bulldog clip. Fortunately, that’s all I needed to put together my own dock. Using what little supplies I had, I created what is quite possibly the simplest smartphone stand ever.
