    Hi guys,

I'm surprised no one has posted this more often, but the easiest way to install a boot animation is with DroidRootHelper.apk

For those of you who are nervous using adb, you can replace the bootanimation.zip file in the tools section of your sd card with the bootanimation.zip of your choice. Then just follow the directions in the apk.

    **leeching on to this thread.

Need help. I forgot how to allow Astro to install .apk files again.

I have the DRH .apk in my downloads folder of Astro but the file has a generic icon next to it and the install option is gone. I know there is a simple fix for this but i forgot what it was. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

An even easier way is using root explorer. Just download whatever boot animation you want to your sd card, then using root explorer move that file to the data/local of the phone and bam done. I currently have the mario boot animation :)

In the settings menu on the Droid under appplications menu there is some little box that is allow install of apps not from market. That should work

I can dig it. I just got mine up and running:

Still, seems like quite a bit of work for something that rarely gets seen!

Edit: Forgot to give credit to tdawg5480 for the grunt work on the blue eye. Thanks again!

Haha, very true. It's about customization though, which is it's own reward.

? it's takes all of 2 min IF that... if that's your idea of "quite a bit of work" than (I'll be nice.....)...

And Topsy is correct. It's all about customizing (which used to be part of Google's marketing strategy). Personally I like that the Blue-Matrix theme (GREAT job Topsy) matches the Smoked Glass theme I'm using.

Aww, come now. 2 minutes of work if you want use something somebody already came up with. I had to dust off some paint.net skills that I hadn't used in a long while.

i think he meant modifying the boot animation to his own custom version, which can be time consuming creating the frames.
But thanks for the compliment, glad people are still enjoying it and especially that it's matching up so good with smoked glass.
