Just before the launch of the OnePlus 5 Carl Pei announced that they would be working with DxOMark to make the best possible camera for the device. What that sounded like to me is, "We will be tweaking our camera to get the best DxOMark score possible." Many people assumed this would generate a biased camera score from DxOMark since it appeared they were being payed to help OnePlus.

DxOMark just announced their score for the OnePlus 5 which received 87 points. This puts it in line with devices like the Huawei P10, Moto Z, Galaxy S6 edge, and Sony Xperia XZ. The white balance, colors, detail preservation in bright light, and fast auto focus are named as standout features. Ghosting in outdoor conditions, strong loss of details outdoors, fine detail loss in low light are all reasons the OnePlus 5 didn't score better than it did.
