duplicate sms notifications

Okay..so I know that something of this sort has already been posted because I actually read that thread and used it to install Handcent and set as my default app for messaging. I have also gone into the original messaging app and unchecked EVERYTHING and rebooted my phone. So why am i still getting duplicate sms notifications (one will be a square popup in the homescreen and the other is the handcent notification in the notification bar)? I am thinking that these are two separate messaging popups because I "thought" that i set the handscent to show up as convo bubbles not square screens? Can someone please help. Thanks

The SMS apps have settings to disable notification icons.

@ Bobby J...The popup that I was getting was coming from the Handsent app not the messaging app..so once i unchecked the option in Handsent to allow popups..I stopped getting them...hope this helps

That's what I thought, but the popup looks so different. Just did the same.
