Droid2 randomly doesn't notify new sms and contacts autosyncs with facebook?

Alright so im running stock 2.2 on my Droid 2 and sometimes my phone just randomly doesn't display new text messages and I don't know why... My Droid 2 also syncs my fb contacts with my phone contacts and I can't figure out how to disable that like I could on the original droid...
