I recently replaced my droidx under warranty and they gave me a returned dx since. The store people are generally less helpful, I think because they want to push you to a new phone (probably work on commission).

Call the warranty support number. I suspect they'll replace it with a dx. If they don't have those they'll give you a new phone but won't affect your upgrade time, so you can still get a prime down the road.

Have you pulled the battery and left it out for a few minutes?? I had to do this to my DX2 once.... then I did a factory reset. U say u can't do a hard reset... because u can't navigate the menus fast enough or is there another reason?

hard reset won't do anything just keeps rebooting & have to pull battery to shut off phone

Have you tried wiping cache or data in recovery?

took a few hours but got my droidx back up working ....
