I got a Droid X second hand and it seems the person may have tried to root the phone and failed. Now the phone is randomly rebooting and power cycling and not even a factory reset will help. Is there any way I can stop this or is there any way to get it back to normal?

Try doing an SBF to get you back to complete stock. I'm not quite sure of the SBF rules otherwise I would link you to it.

    Googling it for you..

Also the xda-forums has a lot of good resources on how to get back to stock (even after a failed root attempt).

Go here and start reading: Droid X Hacks - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

I'm sure you will find some good/relevant information there.

    Good luck.
