Droid X has not gotten gingerbead update??

Hello all,

my uncle has the droid x, but has not yet got an ota for gingerbread or anything else update related.
we rebooted his phone of coarse and tried through phone settings.
still nothing running froyo.
my question is this normal or what? is there a .zip i can use??

Have you tried "checkin?"
You do NOTpress the Green send button!
Dial *#*#checkin#*#*
that is... *#*#2432546#*#*

It will say "checkin suceeded" in the notification area. Then, go back to your settings/ about phone / system updates

If that doesn't work, he is running STOCK correct? He won't be able to update if he has any bloatware removed or anything like that.

I did the checkin and it worked... But when we go to system update it says check update not available at this time the phone has full 3g also so idk...

One of my DX's had the same problem. I have two and only one of them got the update. I called tech support and they told me there was something wrong with the software on it. They said I could get a new under warranty if I wanted. I opted to just SBF the non-rooted version on it.

IDK if it can be done over WiFi, the last stock rom on my device was the original software it came with, but it is much faster and reliable to download large files like updates over a WiFi connection.
