Droid X Camera isn't working (Shutter Problems)

I have a Droid X and my camera doesn't work. It will stay at a black screen when I open the camera app, as well as the camcorder app.

The issue I have is that I don't have insurance on my phone.

What can I do? I don't have the money to buy a new phone, and its a defect in the phone, not my fault.

Are you rooted? Cause my next suggestions is a wipe

No I'm not rooted...already did a hard reset

Is the physical shutter stuck close? Or can you see the lens?

Settings-privacy- factory reset?
