droid x calender will not add new events help!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and help me out. The calendar on my droid x all the sudden decided it was not gonna let me add any new events when i go to the menu and select add a new event and it does nothing. I might add that I have an abbyy BCR light app that disappears from thew app menu unless I power cycle twice a day. The two issues may be unrelated but thought it might help. Please help me fix it!
