Been there for hours. Its Moto. You canNOT go from 2.2 to 2.1. Otherwise this happens. Someone should sticky that point.

When you plug the X into a PC, you will get a USB notification. Go to notifications and select "USB connection." You should then see a menu that allows you to select "Charge Only." That is what I meant.

It has been said many times in many threads... do not flash back to 2.1 from 2.2 OTA. If this was done, yea, you brick your phone.

Still sounds like his phone wouldn't charge. ...

Why does flashing back hose it up? What's the reason?

Doesn't make sense to me. Just trying to understand...

I don't believe there's a 2.2 OTA .sbf avail. yet. Only option I know of, is to contact VZW store, and ask if they can flash a 2.2 .sbf to the phone. ? (Assuming you can get someone with enough tech. knowledge that is willing to help :p

The bootloader is signed different with the ota 2.2. Currently only a system only file has been released, which helps if you screw up a theme or rom. In overly simple terms, moto has the only key and s/he just locked themself out of the house.

Ah, I saw another thread somewhere about how the bootloader was different in the Droid. That makes sense now.
