possible brick situation idk. i just installed 2.1 Simply Stunning OC and it froze up after install and went black. did battery pull and plugged it in and everything. it wont boot at all, no moto logo at all. the battery was about dead >5%. that may have something to do with it. right now its just plugged in, the white light on the side comes on.

    ideas?

Let it charge overnight, and then try again, if it's still not getting past the little vibration in the boot sequence try booting into SPrecovery. Did you wipe data/cache partition before going to SS?

First of all, WHY would you flash a ROM at 5% battery???????????????

That's about one of the biggest mistakes you could have done man...

It's not bricked, but will probably take ALL night just to charge up

I'm just saying man :icon_eek: lol that's always one of the basic rules of flashing ROMs. Some even say to not flash a ROM unless you have 100% full battery. I mean I've flashed mine around 30 or 40% before, but never lower than that, I care about my Droid tooooo much to be worrying about coming on. Lol, just because it was okay this time definitely doesn't mean it will be the next time for sure

I've got the same issue right now. I installed Droidmod 1.0 last night. No real problems with that, I got stuck at the M but a reboot fixed it.
Every now and then I like to run my phone down all the way and charge it up overnight, I did that last night, except that it didn't give me a 'power down' message, it simply shut itself off. I went to bed without plugging it in, and now this morning it won't boot up, I've had it plugged in for about 2 hours. Any ideas? Should I just let it charge?

Strange. I've installed Droidmod 1.0 with no problems in the past though. I can't make up my mind between stock and that :)
It also got rather hot the first time I plugged it in this morning, but hasn't gotten hot since (I removed the battery, let it cool and put it back in).
I'm hoping I just really ran it down and it'll just charge for a while and be alright.

I've never wiped data installing DM either, didn't seem necessary going from 2.0.1 to 2.0.1... perhaps I should start.

Yes let it charge for a long time. If the white LED comes on you should be alright. People need to get out of the habit of running these phones dry. Lithium Ion batteries do not need to be conditioned, do not need to be run down, and actually work best charged above 50% I always plug mine in when it gets down to 40% and leave it till its fully charged. Or I'll plug it in if I'm not using it. If I can I will leave it plugged in while surfing the web at work.

Ended up being my battery just completely dead. Swapped a freinds battery in and it booted up no problem

Does DMU not do a safe shutdown with a low battery?

Its not a DMU thing its a droid thing. Anytime it can't boot due to low battery, it takes an extremely long time to recharge. Have heard as long a 6hrs and more.

My post wasnt reflecting the fact that the battery was dead but the power down process. With the stock ROM it does a warning then a safe shutdown on the phone before its completely dead.

Both myself and the OP observed a hard power-off with DMU

Ok. I've never let my battery get even down to 20% so I've not come to this issue. But I'm sure with the hard shut off it didn't help. At least the issue is resolved. On the the next one.
