That fact that you will only be able to buy the nexus from google is good news for droid users. That means verizon will still push the droid and make sure its up to date. I was worried that with the Nexus already coming out that verizon would go on to the next newest kid on the block. Not the case, plus like all you have said about them having so much money invested in the droid advertising I think droid users will be safe for the next year to year and a half.

A quote directly from Satan himself " I was going to list my Droid on ebay and get a N1, but one of my Minions told me the west sector of my kingdom was starting to freeze over."

For Verizon users. Not sure how correct this is but only having aGPS and not sGPS might cause issues. My Pearl had aGPS only and I was unable to get GPS support in anything other than BBMaps and VZ Navigator.

The Droid does have standalone GPS.

From the specs I got in the first page I saw only aGPS.

Gaming System Emulators. Yeah, Droid can do that. Upside-down mode with the physical keyboard = AWSOME! Nexus...oh yeah..no physical keyboard.

Not ditching my droid anytime soon. Nexus does not equal fail...just too late. If they wanted to sell it, they should have released it with the droid...or before.

Not to sound sarcastic, I love my Droid but deep down I think we are all burning with envy.

nope.....its just a phone. If I had the droid eris......id ditch it for the nexus in a heart beat. But I am cool with the droid. The nexus will have the same basic features that I will have on my droid.
Besides as said many times b4, in 6 mnths we will be on a dif phone (ie x10)

i must be weird, but the main reason i would want a nexus is for twice the ram. i find that to be the most important difference

I'm not. Its biggest advantage is the added RAM, but I have yet to use my device and feel like 256 wasn't enough.

I too don't have envy over the N1. The design of the Droid is one of its strongest assets for me. I love the hard, industrial look.

Here is what I'm wondering:

1.) can you view home screens in landscape mode? Just wondering because you can only do it with keyboard out on Droid.

2.) Does it have a blinking light to notify you of messages?
