If we get root access you could probably do that. Wait about a month or so.

I don't see the Droid even offered as one of the available phones for the straight talk program.

So they use Tracfone for their service...

This wouldn't even be worth it... I doubt straight talk comes with a data plan.

    Nothing really...

I doubt the service coverage would be that great. It would be like any metropolitan phone service where it only works decent in certain areas.

It probably has a lot of network restrictions where its not as good like only 1g or 2g, etc...

There is a reason its $45 a month. I bet the network it runs on is terrible. If it uses verizon's network its probably still limited to only go so fast or something.

In other words I don't think this is currently possible and I don't think its worth the trouble either. You get what you pay for and I don't think this service would work well if you found a way to make it work on the Moto Droid.

I think experienced coders realize this too, so they probably won't waste their time either.

I flashed my previous smartphone HTC Mogul with CRICKET UNLIMITED service. It's legal. You own the phone. You pay for service.

It was unlimited TXT, DATA, MINUTES. It was epic for the $55/mo I paid for it. Now I pay $120/mo @ verizon for 900 min. The only other option is -HALF- the amount of minutes for $20 less....wish they had a plan to meet me half way inbetween :(

Sprint is another option, as they now also use Verizon's network when Sprint coverage isn't available and it's not counted as roaming (you only lose the free sprint to sprint minutes when on the verizon towers). The prices are cheaper than Verizon's too.

My friend at AT&T said he'd setup my BB Storm to work on AT&T if I ever wanted to switch it from Verizon, since it's unlocked and has CDMA & GSM support. Too bad it's just sitting there as a paper weight right now lol

I have been heavily weighing the pros and cons of Sprint and Verizon. Sprint is slightly cheaper, about $10/month I think. I travel allot and I need the best coverage possible which is Verizon. But if I lived in one of the cities the cities that Sprint was testing the 4G, it would be a no brainer.

    straight talk is verizon

straight talk is offered through walmart only it uses verizon's network they have an exclusive deal with walmart

it is not a voip app like google voice

it is a cheap cell phone plan that competes with metro pcs, creckit, and boost

    boost is owned by sprint

can the phone be flashed to work through the straight talk network

in other words can i buy a straight talk phone and take that information and flash it on to my droid and enjoy the unlimited voice, text, data, for 45 bucks

ProTip: Throw in some punctuation next time, can't tell if you're asking questions or just making statements.

yes straight talk is compatible with the droid as long it has a good esn and it doesnt need root access.

Also the service is runned through verizons servers which means u can also use the data no problems at all.

Runned straight talk on droid for 2 months now!
