Are there any resources that can aid me in updating a friends tablet from 1.5 to 2.whatever? Secondly, would this require a "root" of the device and if so are they the same files as rooting the phone or different?

I think that would depend on who the manufacturer of the tablet is. :icon_question:

For example, I have an Archos 5 Internet Media tablet running Android 1.6. Archos has not released a 2.x version of the firmware, so I am stuck, and rooting has been accomplished and there is an Archos forum that would point you in the right direction.

What tablet are we talking about?

honestly, I only saw it once...i really wish I could be of more assistance which sucks cause its basically a shot in the dark...do you have a link for the info that you currently know?
