Happened again, THIS TIME I HAVE THE LOGS!

Here's what I got from the log collector, which I installed just-in-case after the first time I got bitten. I'm not a developer but hopefully this helps someone who is. This bug is dreadful.

This morning I woke up and noticed I had no new emails for my exchange account, which is impossible for the amount of email I receive. I use touchdown. I had to reconfigure it from scratch. Ok.........no biggie.......something went wrong. Then after work, same thing happened today. I had to reconfigure it from scratch again. Then I saw this thread and now I have to say there is some problem. Sorry I haven't read thru the whole thread, but I wanted to give my input.

Have had it happen twice now, however when i goto Settings > Accounts and Sync it shows them there but when you open the shortcut it asks you to enter in account information

I have 1 Exchange account and 1 POP3

i wonder how many other people that have experienced this issue had some sort of task killer installed.

^^ Good question. I've been lucky to have never had this happen (knock on wood). I don't use any type of task killer though.

No task killer and I've had it happen multiple times - I was hoping this was going to be fixed in January. I think I dreamed that...

I finally gave up on the mail client that comes with the droid. It looses mail, it stops syncing, it does all sorts of crap over time. After two months of it I've decided the software is crap. Not only is it bad it is also a poor implementation. No GAL support which makes it a pain.

So finally I just cleared it's data and got exchange for touchdown. So far after a week it has been running without a hickup. No corruption, no problems with attachments, full GAL support, even has a task manager that syncs. Excellent folder support to boot. If you want exchange email do yourself a favor and spend $20 for this software. It works very well.

Maybe google will get this right by android 2.5....

I have lost my Exchange setup every 5-7 days since I got my phone back in December. I use nothing special and it works fine when the setup is there. Always syncs with mail and contacts.

Just lost both of my pop emails, my work exchange email and my corp calendar. Had to re-enter each one.
Over the weekend, my non-work emails quit loading. I have found when this happens, I need to delete all mail off the server, and then it can re-connect. It did re-connect, and it has been downloading email fine for the last few days, but now I lost the accounts. Don't know if the 2 events are related; I think not.

Something to try

I have be having the lost email account issues for a couple of weeks, exchange, no exchange, imap, imap and exchange does not matter but what I have found is that when I chose to save 30 days worth of email my account delete in @ an hr.
So for the 4th time I added my corp. exchange account and one of my imap accounts but only set it to save 1 week of mail and so fare I still have my accounts after 2.5 days.
Can some of you also please try this and post back your results to see if we are in the right direction?

thanks

I've lost my exchange settings twice this week. I have been saving 30 days each time. I really hate to do so, but I'll drop back to 2 weeks and see if it matters. I really wish someone would fix this problem.

I lost my exchange settings several times. I have had two replacements phones, trying to fix the problem, but that has not helped. It happened yesterday and I dropped the amount of email saved from 30 days to two weeks. That didn't help either. I lost the exchange settings this morning. I have now dropped the email saved to 1 week to see if that helps.

By the way, this has nothing to do with Advanced Task Killer. I have never had it on any of my three Droids.

It's happened to my droid three times since I received it two weeks ago. I have the higher priced plan. I have two exchange accounts and one pop three account. Have tried different date ranges for emails that are saved. Last time I lost it was right after I answered a call to my phone.

If you could at least save your settings and autonmatically restore the accounts, at lkeast that would minimize theincredible pain in the butt that this bug is causing. Had an HTC smartphone for two years without this happening even once.
