I cracked my droid screen, and I canceled my insurance about 2 months ago. I found a website with a $50 replacement screen. I think I'm going to get it, but I have no idea how to replace the screen or what tools I need. I could only find a video of how to take apart my phone. If someone could tell me how to take it apart or where something can tell me how that'd be great thanks!

Yes and when you take it apart, you then remove the screen and replace it.

Why would i go to all the trouble of taking apart my whole phone when i only need to replace one part?

You would take it apart to the point of being able to remove the screen. Then you would replace the screen.
