Is there any way to turn off the lock/unlock button on the top of my pro? I dont mind the slide, but the lock is a pain with my protective case. You have to push hard.

Try NOLOK app.

you should be able to use any button to open the screen

I too love the nolock app but it only removes the slide lock on my D2G. I Still have to push the button every time which ticks me off.

Use NoLock

After installing NoLock, deselect any apps associated with the side button, then you can use the side button to refresh your screen. See other posts about this.
