droid internet problem

New Droid user here. Had a strange problem today. Earlier my internet connection stopped working. I could not send or receive emails nor could I use any apps that utilized the phones data connection. Removed the battery but still could not connect to the internet. Finally rebooted the phone in safe mode and I was able to connect to the internet. Turned the phone on normally and internet was still working but all of my Widgets said failed to load. Anyone else ever experience this issue?
