You don't want 802.11n on your smartphone, it will annihilate your battery.
I did a little search and I found a type of the chip, which could be the one used in Motorola Milestone, but not sure.... Broadcom BCM4325
good luck with the Fm hack!
The Milestone's wireless chip is the same as the Droid's, a TI WL1271.

That would be great but I will mostly only use the transmitter. I mostly use iHeartRadio for local FM stations.
But I doubt it will be like a normal FM radio because my iPod Nano can barely pick up radio frequencies.
It's a nice concept though.
still shaking my head here....don't understand why they just don't come out with a microUSB antenna attachment that's small yet can hold a pretty strong HD antenna.
then roll out the apps for respective devices to use it....Android, Blackberry, Simbian, etc.....
apple has had a radio attachment accessory for their ipod/iphone stuff from day one...
it's actually pretty strange that there's not something like this out on the market already....
I feel like an FM transmitter would be more useful, as I can stream Pandora and then transmit to my car FM player easily...
So the Cliq officially has been hacked to be a receiver: Moto CLIQ hacked to enable FM radio, easy listenin' coming soon -- Engadget
We need him working for Droid!
Awesome! It seems like it's just a matter of time now.
found this on google reader last night. might be of some interest
FM Radio Built Into the Cliq | Android Community

With that, wouldn't we also be able to use a Police Scanner app. That is what I want to see.
Police don't operate on FM brah
