I made one out of Legos. It was just a quick little attempt, nothing too fancy. Mostly just wanted to get the dimensions down. It works well. I just need to add another row on the bottom to give the cord some room.

I put this together on a Saturday afternoon. I had some aluminum strips and a black plastic box for the base. A few quick cuts with a miter saw to give me the correct angles and bam, a custom dock with some personality. I also added some weight on the underside and four rubber feet to keep it stable and solid.

Those of us who have the Body Glove case know it's pretty bulky. So I had to think up my own dock. I found a cheap folding picture frame (about $2), glued it open, and then glued the magnet in the right place. Works - and looks - great. (Pics attached.) I liked it so much I made another one for the office. Total cost for the pair of them: about $5.00 in supplies.

It's not about having the money to buy the "official" dock. It's about having fun being a hacker of sorts, when the official products aren't what you're looking for.

    Here is mine

we do an office gift xchange around xmas every year. I always ask for brainteaser puzzles because I collect them. One year I got this: Geomag 44 piece set
I play with it every now and then when I get bored. I usually just make a hanging cage sticking to the underside of my wall cabinet and fill it with random stuff, but I thought this would be a better use. The nice thing is that when my innocase gets here, it will work with it too. The whole assembly is magnetic and it rests right against the trigger point to switch to multimedia mode. Works out nice that way.

    911 dock

I've been holding out on posting this, but this is a droid dock I built with built-in usb power/data connector, and magnetic dock activation for my 81' Porsche 911. I can post some construction photo's if anybody wants them. The Droid slides down onto the usb jack and the dock is plugged into a usb cable routed behind the dash from the stereo. The stereo does pretty good with hot switching between calls mp3, and navigation w/bluetooth. At least I don't get hands free tickets, but the speeders, well... too bad the droid won't do radar detector yet.
