Droid 3G No sound when dialing and can not hear anyone when answering phone

I've tried everything I can think of...volume control, settings. Can't think of what has happened. The only way I can hear people is if I'm on speaker phone.

About the only thing I can think of is to go to Settings > Applications > Manage App >All and find the app Dialer clear data and clear cache. Then Dial *228. I do not think this will work, but worth a try. Next thing to do would be a Factory Reset following the instructions in this post to save your data and contacts first.
