Droid 3 and skype

Im curious if anyone knows how to get around skype needing to be on a verizon 3g network in order to use it to make calls. I am traveling through south america for a couple months and dont think i should have to pay verizon $20/mb while roaming on foreign 3g networks just to make a call. Thanks for any help you folks can give me.

i think there were 2skypes on the market,one for android,one for verizon. the android one i think used wifi

Here's a third version... FANTASTIC for the Droid 3. Full front and rear camera operation, portrait and landscape mode. You can even switch between front and rear cameras mid-skype. It's on XDA and is a known good hack... I've used it since it first arrived. Impressive on both 3G AND wifi. You can even update to newer versions, as they arrive, from within the app. Neall

This post is in a samsung thread but it's the right version for the Droid 3.
