I got my new droid last week and so far I love it. I upgraded from the incredible.

Seems that from just about dead, maybe 5% left it takes less then 1hr to charge. Does this seem normal? I am using the charger that came with it and I have downloaded the last OTA update.

Also, the life of the battery isn't quite what I expected either. I have not rooted yet and know there is also alot of bloat apps on this phone. Also I have this phone setup for email sync with my corp email.

Any ideas/ recommendations

sounds about right, the original charger that came with your phone is a fast rate charger. One hour to charge completely isnt too long.

Also, how's your corporate mail going along? I as well use it for corporate e-mail however have had bad luck with it running efficient.

As far as battery life, you'd be lucky to get one day out of these devices nowadays. Standby is a different story however, it your on it constantly 24/7 like me then half the day is great on heavy usage. And on minimal usage I can go a full day.

You have to change settings. I have my display at lowest, not auto. The battery life is dramatically increase, but I am indoor so I have no problem with the sun hitting the screen.
Turn off bluetooth, gps, wifi when not in use.
ALso using data(3g) consumes the battery greatly.

Ok thanks for the info. I do keep most wireless features like blue tooth, wifi, and gps off. And also don't really have many widgets or icons. On main screen only 4 icons and a weather widget which I will be removing. Another screen just has a few shortcuts to contacts and the third screen has the buttons to turn on or off wifi, bluetooth and gps. I also set my network to cdma and I will try to dim the screen.

Thanks

Also switch the radio to CDMA from Global in Settings, Wireless & Network, Mobile Network, then Network type. You don't have to need to have global radio active in the states because all GSM networks are locked out.
