Droid 2 won't hold data connection

Newbie here. droid 2. Rooted with the 1 click method. Everything was working well until a few days ago when I noticed my phone will not hold a data connection. The "3G" label is gone. When I connect to my home wifi - it holds the signal, but then when the screen blanks out, it seems to turn off. I am using performance mode in battery setting, I have push data on, and background data on. I also have roaming data checked.

Any ideas?

you could try going to settings, wireless & networks, then wifi settings, then press settings (4 squares) advanced, change the wifi sleep policy to never, and use static ip. Oh and also, when your on wifi the 3g notification goes away. Droids are notorious for wifi connectivity issues, everyone has their own fix for their specific network issues, theres plenty of info on this issue around.
