Droid 2 OTA Update soon?

nope its not it. Dont know of an ota that has just the blockbuster app only in the system files. I have been duped by the guy on that forum

OK I MAY have the ota but the guy who pulled it is not sure. Ima get with a dev and see what we can do with it.

Please also see http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...180-droid-2-ota-update-soon-7.html#post945506. I pulled this, but am not sure that it is the correct file. Inspecting the zip itself everything looked in order, but I only know enough to look casually.

The cache folder of my device, prior to installing the update. The thing that worried me the most is that the file name wasn't what I expected. It said 2.2.20 rather than 2.3.20 (yes, I looked at it a number of times), but after applying the update my phone is reporting system version as Version.2.3.20.A955.en.US (Android version is still 2.2) and the file has been removed.

cuz when you look inside the zip and open system folder and then framework all you sii is the blockbuster app. Now with root explorer when i open my system and famework folder on my phone it contain a list of stuff.

Look in Patch -> System; If I understand what they are doing correctly (and I may not) there are only "diffs" in these patches, not the entire OS.

I just noticed something.

After I rooted I renamed a lot of the apps I didn't use, one of which was cityID. My 14 or 15 day trial had expired. Today I put all of the apps back in preparation for unrooting and updating, cityID is working again.

I'm wondering if we actually like the app if all it takes is renaming it and putting it back restarts the evaluation period.

Settings lists the System Version as
Version.2.3.20.A955.Verizon.en.US

But under android version it still lists it as 2.2

Kernel version is listed as
2.6.32.9-g462500f

Best bet is to wait for PC747 to verify it. I'd hate to explain to someone how to brick their phone.

before you do that lets make sure we can do that and it may need to be modified so u can keep root access.

Ok.
Truthfully I don't care about loosing root. Other reports say it can be re-rooted and the only reason I rooted was to get teh 2.3.15 rom leak from Motorola, which does have the update capability (just keeps telling me i'm up to date if I check though).

If I brick I do have SBF setup @ home to get it going, but yeah I would hate to do that a second time ... lol.
