droid 2 not picking up 3g service

so, i have a d1, rooted, posting from computer using hotspot :heart: my husband has the d2 right next to mine, and is not getting ANY internet connection, 3g or 1x. checked all the settings i can think of, reset by taking battery out, rebooted, and...NOTHING:icon_evil: any suggestions? he is running non rooted d2 gingerbread 2.3.3. Thanks in advance!!!!

Dial *228 and follow instructions. I think it says might take xx minuets before it takes effect, so be patient.

Check your battery mode as well. If you have it on battery saver, your phone will drop 3G as much as possible to conserve life. Try it on maximum performance.
