i installed rom manager to back up my image before i overclocked, and now ever since, whenever i reboot the phone, it boots into some clockworkmod recovery screen where i have to select to boot into the phone. i removed rom manager and deleted clockwork folder from SDcard but its still happening every single time. does anyone know how to get rid of this for good? i dont want it to keep doing that.

    thanks in advance!

Sounds like you are in bootstrap. Just install your backup and start over. What does the screen say?

when it reboots, after motorola screen, i get this

clockworkmod recover v 2.5.0.8 on top
    - reboot system now
    -apply sdcard update.zip
    -wipe data/factory reset
    -wipe cache partition
    - install zuip from sdcard
    - backup and restore
    -mounts and storage
    - advanced

    Clockworkmod recovery v 2.5.0.8

so im pretty sure its clockworkmod, unless they work together. i had downloaded bootstrap and clicked like "make backup" a while ago, but never reboot and backup, and then deleted it because i thought nothing happened. but since then i installed rom manager, and when i said i want to back up, it said that i had to dopwnload clockwork to backup, and it downloaded it and ever since then ive had this

Something got corrupted. Backups and SBFs are the only thing that can save your butt.

That's what in thinking as well. I don't know hoe he got into clockwork though if he didn't know what bootstrapper was. Back the thing up and start from scratch. It happens to us all at some point. Hahaha

You could try to do a factory reset from Clockwork and then reboot to see if it gets you back into the OS.

I had posted in a forum here that I was gonna overclock and ppl said to do a backup first. Do you still think I shpld do fsctory reset? Is there a risk of the phone bricking if I do that?

    No risk. It's a straight D2, correct?

    Backup before overclocking? Geezum.

Hang on thirty before doing anything, I want to ask a question of someone that might just have an answer for you.

Okay, I have instructions for removing bootstrap. However, I don't think they'd work for Clockwork. I can supply them and you can work on your terminal skills with it, or I can give you the answer that's going to suck but should work 100%.

Those instructions I sent you will do what you're looking for. It removes the script that injects cm recovery.

    Removing Bootstrap Recovery:

    Removal from an Androidforums post:

UNINSTALL the Recovery APK (Droid X Bootstrapper) in Settings, Applications
    Reboot
    Run "adb shell"
    Run "su"
    Run "mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system"
    Run "cp /system/bin/logwrapper.bin /system/bin/logwrapper"
    Reboot

    or

    1. Reroot
    2. Get root explorer in the market
    3. Uninstall the bootstrap app
    4. Go into root explorer to system/bin
    5. In top right corner tap r/w
    6. Delete the file called hijack
    7. Delete logwrapper
    8. Rename logwrapper.bin to just logwrapper
    9. Reboot and it should be gone.
    (thanks to Droidforums member Hostility6)

The commands can be used with terminal emulator do all the commands except for the first command. (Run adb shell)

Heres some info on how to actually use the bootstrap.
