After I achieved root, first thing I did was make a backup (2 in fact).

I fumbled with Koush's Droid X / 2 Recovery Bootstrap because although I could enter recovery mode via Droid 2 Bootstrap->Bootstrap Recovery then subsequently hitting Reboot Recovery,I was thinking worst case how to enter recovery directly from phone not booting. I like the battery method as it seems short and sweet.

I couldn't get the timing right until I found approx 8 sec after power on, or very shorty after the moto M screen will change contract/brightness (some may say flicker), this is when to take out the battery.
Put battery back in and power back on and you get that wonderful green screen. I get it every time.

Like many, I wanted to root and make a fresh as much stock as possible backup, then proceed to screw it up. I just did that (not the screw up part, yet)..and I have all of you folks to thank for it.Thank you very much.

I just wanted to say the above tidbit in case it helps someone.
