i am trying to root my buddies droid 1 using "Easy Root". i start the app, click root and it says root successful. it then prompts me to reboot my phone. i do so and then open easy root again. instead of being rooted and having superuser permissions, easy root only gives me the option to click "Root" again. i try using wifi tether and it says im not rooted.

    anyone else have this problem
he is on stock froyo 2.2

    thanks, Adam

Use link 3 in my sig.

Easy root is asking for trouble, plus it doesn't work on the newest versions of 2.2

i can do it that way, ive used RSD Lite a few times. but is there any other one click options available for the droid 1? i was looking into his build number and its FRG83D. i know easy root cant root phones with certain build numbers but this one isnt one of them. thanks for the quick reply. EasyRoot doesn't work beyond FRG01B. You are on FRG22D or FRG83D. If you're on 22D check out z4root. If you're on 83D check out superoneclick. Both are available from XDA. Links can be provided if a search fails. :)

If you want to ROM you'll need either to use the RSD Lite method or an on-phone PITA method.

As long as he doesn't accept an OTA he'll be fine.
