    Evening All:

For quite awhile I've tried many times/methods to get ANY comp to recognize this phone. It's a never ending endeavor. Today alone I tried 4 different "sites" trying to get the drivers for this phone. I supposedly installed driver 1.48.0 (samsung), a 'universal" Adb, D/l from a Samsung site and Kies. None worked. Even tried Kies 3 times which said it installed the driver, but comp still didn't recognize phone? I'll bet I've tried to D/l-install these driver(s) at least 2 dozen times with failure every time. So, I'm asking for help from someone that knows what their doing and who can possibly help me. The phone is an older model shw-m110s running Android 2.2. It is rooted (according to z4Root) and tethered/USB debugged. I'm forced to use a Dell PC and laptop running Win7. Even ran Kies troubleshooting program which stated "Connection error troubleshoot process is complete"! I cannot figure what I'm doing wrong? I really don't think the driver is getting installed even though some of the programs says it it???? Needless to say I've spent far more time/effort trying to "open up" up this phone so I can upgrade the O.S than should be necessary. It can't possibly be this complicated, nor time consuming. I hate to say this, but I've given up and am now desperate. PLEASE, help me get this straightened out!!! phone: Samsung Anycall GalaxyS model shw-m110s- Froyo 2.2- "rooted"

    Thank You:
    :mad:Rick

Rick, are you still using the computer at the library? If so, that's the problem. As I've tried to explain to you on the Galaxy forums, public computers like the ones you'll find at libraries, internet cafes, etc WILL NOT allow you to download drivers, unless you have Administrator privileges. Nothing you can do will change this fact.
Your only option is to use a friend or family members pc.

Using a public computer may put you at risk as it's a likely place for malware.

    Hey CR6:

I went to the university (O.S.U.) and was told they did not know of such 'restrictions". They do not even restrict porn....so they said???

Unless your logged onto the pc as "Administrator", you're not going to be able to download the driver.

The Admin rule that @cr6 is referring to is a Windows rule. Probably why OSU is not aware of the restriction.

Ahh... now it's making sense. I was not aware of the Windows restriction. More MSWin manipulation and coercion. That's why I use Linux. Anyway, THANK YOU for the information. I don't know...maybe it's just time to give up on this phone?

It has nothing to do with "manipulation", it's simply a means of keeping a computer "safe" from less than knowledgeable users changing the system registry, settings, etc.
All public school, libraries, internet cafe computers are set up this way. If you can borrow a friend or family members pc, you'll be in good shape.
    Good luck!

OK.......3 x now. I hear you!!! The reason I kept trying at O.S.U was because once it did "detect" this phone??? BTW, I was also advised that because my phone is rooted, it (the rooting) may be presenting problems? What difficulties would/could a rooted phone pose? I tried to D/l a 'root checker", but every time/every app I tried to D/l failed. I believe this is due to the version of my O.S (FroYo.2.2), which I cannot update(gee....is there an echo in here) LOL.
    Thanx CR6:;)
