Downloading from Market

Ive read before that you should be careful about what you download from the App Market because ( im guessing they ment) something could happen to your phone. Is this true? Or is the stuff from the market pretty safe? I downloaded ADW.Launcher ( to download new themes ) if you do need to be careful is the launcher safe to have?

Thanks ahead of time guys, im not the smartest when it comes to this stuff.

The app market is safe and most of the stuff that you download from the apps is safe. It is made in Linux so the odds of you getting a virus or anything from something from the Market is very very rare. You have a higher chance of getting one from your friend through a picture message.
