What about ahome, etc.?

BTW - How do you locate the ahome app on the market? I cannot find it - only the themes.

The themes on the market no, you shouldn't need to be rooted to install those. You just need to use whatever home replacement they require you to use. Unless there is something I have missed that requires root access.

aHome may not be updated to work for 2.2, which is maybe why you can't see it. Not too sure, as I haven't kept up with it. Launcher Pro and ADW both allow theming without rooting, and work with Froyo. Maybe you could look into them. ADW has it's themes on the market, LP I think has some on the market, but it has a forum ( LauncherPro Forum • View forum - Theming and Customization ) where people create icons, docks, wallpapers etc and share.

For other non-market themes, you may need to be rooted to install. Like the themes in the Droid Themes subsection of this forum, for the most part will require root (the Wallpapers section doesn't require root though).
